Globally, the number of traffic accidents is increasing significantly, with motorcycle accidents being among the most common in Paraguay, filling the emergency room of the Trauma Hospital. A lack of knowledge of traffic regulations and recklessness when driving on the roads without safety measures—such as not wearing a protective helmet—are factors associated with traffic accidents(1).
Rapid pre-hospital care at the scene is essential, along with factors such as the type of injury, the trauma sustained, and the manner in which the injured person is transported, among others, in order to reduce mortality(2).
